Joseph Almalet was born on March 15, 1893 in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. He emigrated before the war to France where he settled in Marseille, at 87 avenue de Toulon, with his wife Esther.

He worked as a merchant and was arrested during the fall of 1943. He was probably interned, initially, in the region and then transferred to Drancy where he arrived on November 25, 1943 when he was 50 years old. . It will be assigned the number 8956 .

According to his individual file from the Caen archives service, he died at Auschwitz on December 14, 1943, four days after his arrival in the camp.
