Fanny COGAN

Fanny Cogan was born on November 27, 1937 in Paris. She is the daughter of Joseph and Jeannette Cogan (née COHN). She is a very happy child, who laughs a lot. In January 1940, they left the capital to join the town of Broût-Vernet in Auvergne. It is in this city that a hundred Jewish children will be collected and hidden by the OSE (Organization for the Relief of Children). Albert, Fanny's little brother, was born there in 1941.

Unfortunately, on November 2, 1943, when Fanny's mother was about to give birth to a third child in Vichy, Fanny, her father and her brother were arrested. They had been warned, but did not have the heart to let Jeannette give birth alone. Joseph had therefore decided that they would hide in a cupboard under the stairs. They will be denounced by one of the cooks and taken to Drancy where Fanny will celebrate her 7th birthday.

All three were deported to Auschwitz by convoy n ° 64 of December 7, 1943. As a child, it is very likely that Fanny was taken directly to the gas chambers and that she therefore lost her life on December 10, 1943, so that she was just 7 years old.

His mother and little brother Daniel will survive the war.
